PFSAQ Donation Terms & Conditions

1. Purpose of Donations

All donations received by Parents, Families and Friends of South African Queers (PFSAQ) support our mission to advance equality, dignity, acceptance, and the human rights of LGBTIQ+ persons, their families, and allies.

2. Ethical Funding Policy

PFSAQ upholds a strict ethical funding approach rooted in feminist principles, social justice, and human rights. We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or return any donation that:

  • Is inconsistent with PFSAQ's mission, values, or political principles;
  • Comes from individuals, organisations, or entities whose activities promote discrimination, hate speech, violence, anti-gender ideology, or human rights violations;
  • Originates from sources involved in corruption, exploitation, abuse, or harmful political agendas;
  • Is intended to influence PFSAQ's positions, programs, or independence.

This includes funds from entities known to undermine LGBTQI+ rights, gender justice, feminist organising, or the dignity and safety of marginalised communities.

3. Independence & Non-Influence Clause

Acceptance of a donation does not grant donors influence over PFSAQ's governance, strategy, political positions, campaigns, programmatic work, or public messaging. PFSAQ retains full independence at all times.

4. Transparency & Accountability

PFSAQ commits to responsible and transparent use of all accepted donations. Funds are allocated strictly towards activities that support:

  • LGBTIQ+ youth
  • Parents and families
  • Community organising
  • Education, advocacy, and mobilisation
  • Mental health and suicide prevention
  • Intersex justice
  • Resisting anti-gender and anti-LGBTQI movements

5. Refunding or Declining Donations

PFSAQ may decline or refund donations without obligation to provide detailed reasoning. Where appropriate, PFSAQ may notify the donor of the refusal if it does not compromise safety or organisational integrity.

6. No Conditions Attached

PFSAQ does not accept conditional donations or financial contributions tied to expectations that:

  • Restrict PFSAQ's advocacy work;
  • Compromise our feminist and social justice ethos;
  • Limit our political autonomy.

7. Data Privacy

Donor information will be treated confidentially and according to PFSAQ's Privacy Policy. We do not sell or trade donor information.

8. Amendments

PFSAQ reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions to ensure alignment with organisational values, safety considerations, and legal requirements.
